FLOWERY BRANCH — Despite the storms and rains that rolled through north Georgia the past two days, the 2020 prep baseball season will get under way beginning Tuesday.

Cherokee Bluff will play host to Johnson in both teams’ season openers. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.

The Bears, just in their second season, are coming off a playoff berth in their inaugural campaign in 2019. The Knights are still trying to rebuild a once powerful program.

Gainesville and West Hall also were expected to open their seasons on Tuesday at Ivey-Watson Field but has rescheduled that showdown for Feb. 25.

If the weather holds, Flowery Branch, North Hall, and Riverside Military Academy all are scheduled to open on Wednesday at home.

The Falcons will entertain Lanier, the Trojans travel to Madison County, and the Eagles, coached by Chad Sage, will play host to Sage's old team in West Hall.
