Nobody was injured, but a house on Centennial Drive in Bethlehem sustained heavy damage in a fire Monday afternoon.
Barrow County Fire Capt. Scott Dakin said crews were called to the scene just after 4:30 p.m.
"The 911 caller informed communication officers that the house was full of smoke," Dakin said. "The communication officers informed them to make sure everyone evacuated the house and dispatched firefighters the scene."
When they arrived, firefighters found heavy fire and smoke in the front of the house and through the roof of the home. Dakin said firefighters went into a defensive mode of fire attack, fighting the fire from outside the structure. Once the fire was knocked down, crews made entry into the home to finish extinguishing the fire.
The home was heavily damaged as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The American Red Cross was called to assist the two adults that were displaced by this fire.
