GAINESVILLE - As summer turns to fall today, we are in the midst of another long streak of hotter-than-usual weather... but there is relief in sight.

Tuesday was the 17th straight day that the high temperatures at the Gainesville airport have been above normal, for five straight days by ten degrees or more.

The biggest margin occurred Monday when the high was 93. That was 14 degrees above normal for that date... and today is shaping to be very similar with an expected high of 94, which would be 13 degrees above normal for the date.

And, despite arrival of fall just after 11:00 tonight, Lisa Love at the Weather Channel says it will be Sunday before we see any daytime temperatures are a truly fall-like and anywhere near normal. The highs on Sundays are expected to be in the low 80s.
