Defense sparks No. 3 Bulldogs past North Forsyth

CUMMING - It wasn't the prettiest game of the season for Class AAAAA No. 3-ranked North Gwinnett against North Forsyth Friday night in a key Region 7-AAAAA game, but it was good enough.

The Bulldogs used a dominating defensive performance, highlighted by an 88-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by Tre Sims, to take a 24-7 road win over a much-improved Raiders team.

North Gwinnett quarterback C.J. Uzomah had a mediocre game by his standards with 139 yards passing and one touchdown to go with one interception. He also had a modest 59 yards rushing.

Cordero Dixon had a big game for the Bulldogs (8-0, 6-0 in region) receiving with 96 yards and one touchdown. Raahmil Brantley had 43 yards rushing for North Gwinnett.

Brandon Sysol had a 34-yard field goal in the third quarter for the Bulldogs.

North Forsyth (5-3, 3-3) got its only score late in the fourth quarter and a short TD run from Tyler Slaton.
