As wildfire response efforts continue in Brantley County, another local agency has sent crews to assist.

White County Fire Services reportedly sent a crew to fight the ongoing wildfire over the weekend. AccessWDUN previously reported that volunteers with the Maysville Area Volunteer Fire Department were also sent to assist. White County Public Safety said in a social media post Monday that officials are ready to provide aid as response efforts continue and conditions evolve.

"We ask our community to join us in keeping those affected by the fires, the responders working on the front lines, and the leaders making critical decisions in your thoughts and prayers," the department's post said.

Four volunteers with the Maysville Area Volunteer Fire Department hopped in a brush truck and headed for the wildfires in south Georgia.

The Jackson County Emergency Management Agency posted to Facebook on Saturday, saying they headed out early in the morning to fight the fire in Brantley County.

A state of emergency has been issued for 91 Georgia counties amid fires in Clinch, Echols, and Brantley Counties that are burning tens of thousands of acres. The one in Brantley is the closest to residential areas, burning over 100 homes so far.

The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) has reported that the fire in Clinch and Echols was caused by sparks from a welding operation and the Brantley fire was caused by a foil balloon hitting a live power line.

Additionally, burn bans are going into effect statewide — including in northeast Georgia — although rain in the forecast may mitigate the severe drought conditions the entire state has been facing.

"Please keep these men and those they are working alongside in your prayers as they help our friends and neighbors down south," the Jackson County agency said in their post.
