Hall Co. voters speak out on Election Day

By Will Daughtry News Reporter
Ahead of the election, AccessWDUN took to Hall County and other North Georgia voting precincts to see how voters were feeling on election day.

At the 1st Chapel of Nazarene precinct, voting picked up. Many voters who came out said that women’s rights were top of mind.

“For me, I came out to vote because I don’t want my rights to be taken away,” one woman voter said.

Another voter echoed a similar sentiment.

“Probably women’s rights and reproductive health,” Hall County voter Erica said. “I feel like the government shouldn’t decide what women do with their bodies.”

Another voter named Marlin said that he wanted someone who respects family values.

“Just to have someone in the White House who respects family,” he said.

Jack, a small business owner, said he wanted to vote for a candidate who would help him out the most.

“I’m a small business owner, so I'm pinching every penny where I can,” Jack said. “Really just getting back to where we were.”

Roman said he came to vote to make progress.

“The point of voting is to move forward, not move backwards in time,” Roman said.

Other issues were on people’s minds too.

“Taxes, immigration, and cost of living,” one voter at a different precinct said.

AccessWDUN also spoke to poll managers, who noted higher than normal turnout for the 2024 General Election.

“There are so many people who work behind the scenes on both sides of the aisle,” Brenau University poll manager Dujuana said. “To make sure that every single ballot that’s cast is taken care of properly.”

Marlin added that he wanted voters to respect the will of the people.

“Respect the will of the people you know,” Marlin said. “Whoever wins the most, that’s the president.”

Another voter reminded people to be respectful as results come in.

“Remember to love your neighbor, no matter what they voted for,” another voter said.

Polls in Georgia close on Nov. 5  at 7 p.m., with results expected to start tallying immediately after.
