By Will Daughtry News Reporter

Habersham County is working in conjunction with the Georgia Association of Public Safety Communications (APCO) to collect supplies for Georgians hit hardest by Helene.

“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by Hurricane Helene,” said Habersham County Emergency Management Agency / E-911 Director Lynn Smith. “The loss of lives and the devastation are unimaginable, and we extend our deepest sympathies.”

Georgia APCO is coordinating supply deliveries with 911 centers most affected in Georgia including Augusta-Richmond County, Columbia County, Burke County, and others.

Donations are being accepted at the Habersham County Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center at 120 Paul Franklin Rd. in Clarkesville or to the Habersham County E-911 Center on 175 EOC Dr. in Cornelia.

Collections will be happening for the next two weeks. Donors can also include cards or supportful messages for the dispatchers who are working.
