Jaybo Shaw is headed south.
The third-year Rabun County head coach confirmed, on Monday, that he will take over the Wayne County football program in Jesup.
Shaw guided the Wildcats to a 35-5 record over the last three seasons, ending the 2021 campaign in the quarterfinals with a 49-21 loss to Thomasville. The Wildcats were 11-2 last season. Shaw led the Wildcats to three region championships, two quarterfinal appearances and one semifinal.
Prior to his time as head coach at Rabun, Shaw was the offensive coordinator for his father, Lee Shaw, at the mountain school.
Jaybo Shaw will take over for Ken Cribb. The Yellow Jackets were 0-9 in 2021. Cribb was 31-23 in five seasons with four state playoff appearances and two region championships (2017 & 2018).
The Yellow Jackets will drop from Class 5A to 4A for the next two seasons. They'll be housed in Region 3-4A which houses defending Class 4A championship Benedictine along with Burke County, Islands, New Hampstead and Southeast Bulloch.
