DAHLONEGA — The West Hall baseball team held on to get the win over Lumpkin, 6-3, on the road Thursday.
The Spartans (16-5, 9-2 Region 7-3A) stormed out to a 5-0 lead, including a four-run third inning. But the Indians (4-16, 0-11 Region 7-3A) wouldn't go away, adding three runs in the bottom of the fourth to position themselves to make a run.
West Hall's defense shut that down, however, holding the Indians scoreless through the final three innings.
Alex Holman earned the win on the hill, surrendering three runs on four hits over six innings of work while striking out seven.
Braden Simms and Kyle Murphy led the Spartans production. The pair was 2-for-4 with an RBI each. Justin Shaffer and Tyler Maynard added two hits. Nick Sturm and Evan Connor both drove in a run.
Hunter Cooper was 1-for-2 with two RBIs to lead the Indians.

The Panthers (15-7, 4-4 Region 8-5A) couldn't find any offense in the loss to the fourth-ranked Wolfpack (16-4, 7-1 Region 8-5A) on Thursday at home.
Justin Ethridge drove the Panthers' lone run home in the bottom of the third inning on a single down the third baseline. The hit scored Ben Strickland and cut the Wolfpacks' lead in half, 2-1.
But Greenbrier added three more runs in the seventh to extend the lead, 5-1.
An error-filled day didn't help the Knights in the blowout loss to Loganville on Thursday at home.
The Knights committed five errors, while Loganville's 10 runs were all unearned.
Johnson scored one run in fifth and one in the seventh inning.
Jarrett Atwill was 1-for-1 with one RBI to lead the Knights.
