BUFORD — Buford's defense was just plain nasty in a 56-0 rout of Lanier on Friday night at Tom Riden Stadium.
The Longhorns (3-4, 2-2 Region 8-6A) needed oxygen all night as the Wolves (7-1, 4-0 Region 8-6A) held them to just 24 total yards of offense. It was another lockdown performance from the top-ranked Wolves.
Meanwhile, Buford's offense, with a balanced attack, racked up 421 total yards -- 202 rushing, 219 passing. The win clinched a Class 6A berth.
CJ Clinkscale was the leading rusher with 72 yards on five carries, while Victor Venn added 62 yards on eight totes and a touchdown.
Eli Parks and Tobi Olawale added a rushing touchdown each.
Dylan Wittke topped the quarterback duo with 139 yards on a 50of08 performance and two touchdowns. Ashton Daniels was 5-of-5 for 80 yards and a score.
Isaiah Bond led the receiving game with two catches for 91 yards and a touchdown. Clinkscales and Jordan Allen also hauled in a touchdown each.
The Wolves blew it open in the first quarter as Olawale rushed for a 24-yard touchdown. Both Venn and Parks scored in the first on one-yard runs to push the Wolves ahead, 21-0.
In the second quarter, Malik Spencer scored on a punt return with 11:14 on the clock. Later on, Bond caught a 69-yard pass for a score and Allen grabbed a five-yard touchdown pass to push the lead, 42-0.
The Wolves scored twice in the second half, a Zack Salo 12-yard run, and a Jake Humphrey 3-yard run.
