PLAYOFF BASEBALL: Commerce beats Pelham in Game 3, advances in Class A Public

PELHAM — Commerce got a complete-game, four-hitter from Colby Rogers as the Tigers took a 7-1 victory over Pelham Friday in the deciding Game 3 of their Class A Public series.

The win gave Commerce (21-11) a 2-1 series win. The Tigers now advance to the quarterfinals and will take on No. 1 seed Schley County next week.

Pelham won Game 1, 3-1, while the Tigers evened the series on Thursday with an 11-1 win in Game 2.

In the deciding game, Pelham took a quick 1-0 lead against Rogers and the Tigers on an unearned run in the first. Commerce answered right back in the top of the second as Hayden Hutto singled in a run to tie the game. They took the lead for good later in the inning on an error.

Commerce blew it open in the fourth as Chandler Martin, who had two hits and three RBI on the day, knocked in two runs as part of a three-run inning for a 5-1 lead.

Martin added an RBI triple in the sixth and Chase Bridges followed with an RBI single for the final runs.

Jacob Welch had a hit and RBI and Kody Mintz also had a hit for Commerce.
