Coroner identifies victims of fatal Baldwin wreck

BALDWIN — A Tyrone woman and her daughter-in-law were killed in a two-vehicle wreck on Ga. 365 southbound in Baldwin late Sunday morning.

Teddye Hall-Martin, 63, of Tyrone, had pulled her Honda CRV onto the shoulder of Ga. 365 and activated the flashers after becoming ill, said Habersham County Coroner Kasey McEntire. She was outside at the front of the vehicle when it was struck from behind by a second compact SUV.

Hall-Martin and her backseat passenger, Elise Nicole Martin, 26, of Atlanta, died of injuries suffered in the crash, McEntire said. He identified Martin as Hall-Martin's daughter-in-law.

Molly Martin, 26, of Atlanta, who was in the front seat of Hall-Martin's vehicle, survived the crash and was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

McEntire said the three were returning from a weekend family retreat in North Carolina at the time of the tragedy.

McEntire said the Georgia State Patrol will release information about the driver of the other vehicle, as well as specifics about the wreck.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends affected by this tragic wreck," McEntire said.

The wreck, located just north of Ga. 384, shut down the southbound lanes of Ga. 365 between Level Grove Road and Ga. 384 (Duncan Bridge Road) for an extended time while GSP, GSP's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team and the Habersham County Coroner's Office completed their investigations.
