DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Nolan Matthews had five touchdowns on the night as Lumpkin County scored the final 31 points of the game to beat White County, 45-14.
Tied 14-14 at halftime, Matthews scored four second-half touchdowns to pace the Indians past the Warriors. Lumpkin led 14-0 after the first quarter, but Gaines Clark's 27-yard reception and James Hurt's 44-yard pick-six tied the game up going to halftime before Matthews took over in the second half.
Matthews finished the night with 21 carries for 272 yards and five touchdowns. The Indian defense held White County to just 28 total yards of offense.
The Indians and Warriors both have a bye week next week.
