DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — Dawson County and White County split a doubleheader in Region 6-3A on Wednesday.
White County took the opening game 6-1 while the Lady Tigers responded with a 16-5 win in five innings in the second game.
Dawson County (18-7, 9-4 Region 6-3A) had a chance to move into third place with two wins but instead remained in fourth place. White County (10-10, 6-8 Region 6-3A) could have moved into fourth place with a pair of wins but instead remained in fifth place.
In the first game, White County scored two runs each in the first and second innings and then cruised to the victory.
In the second game, the Lady Tigers scored in every inning. They led 10-1 before White County scored four runs in the fourth. Dawson County put it away with six runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Lady Indians (15-6) used an eight-run third inning to blow open a close game en route to the non-region win.
Ava Abernathy, Taylor Burton, Riley Dyer, and Tia Sparks all had doubles with Dyer and Abernathy each had two RBI for Lumpkin County.
Burton got the complete-game win, scattering five hits and allowing one run.
