Another week of high school football in Northeast Georgia is in the books, and it didn't go without some drama across the area.
Buford needed all 48 minutes to dispatch Mallard Creek up in Charlotte, North Carolina, while Stephens County pulled off a 35-0 win over Rabun, shutting out the Wildcats for the first time since 2013.
Commerce went on the road and hammered host Murphy (NC) behind a devastating triple-option attack.
Gainesville took care of business in a 34-21 win over Mountain View to improve to 2-0 as did Flowery Branch as the Falcons won their third straight over St. Pius X, 31-13. Jefferson and East Jackson also ran their records to 2-0 with wins Friday night.
Lakeview got a big win to rebound from last week's loss, while West Hall won the Battle of Oakwood by a 29-9 score. East Forsyth and Lumpkin County also each won in their first outings of the 2023 season.
