North Hall, White County, and Dawson County spearheaded a crucial week of region play around Northeast Georgia on Friday night.

Those three games in Region 7-3A helped point the way for what will be a playoff race down to the final week. North Hall stayed unbeaten atop the standings with another solid performance in a 37-7 over Lumpkin County. The Indians came into the game fresh off their first region win in three years and looking for the upset.

Dawson County won its third straight game, and second straight in 7-3A play, rolling to a 52-21 win over Gilmer in Ellijay behind another big game from Zach Holtzclaw and the passing game.

White County ended its three-game losing streak as Darius Cannon had a huge game to lead the Warriors to a 42-0 victory over West Hall in what was a must-win game for both teams to stay in the playoff race.

Jackson County continued its recent roll, beating Johnson 63-0 in Region 8-5A. The Panthers have won two straight and now are in a four-way tie for second place.

Towns County was hoping to secure its first-ever win over longtime rival Commerce and pushed them to the final minute. But the Tigers held off a furious Indians rally to hold on for a 28-20 win in Hiawassee in Region 8-A Public action.

And, Class 4A eighth-ranked Flowery Branch ran into a hot North Oconee squad falling 14-7 in perhaps the biggest game of the night in a monster Region 8-4A showdown in Bogart. The Falcons remained winless in the region and saw their chances of a possible first-round playoff game dashed with the loss.

Chestatee and East Hall put on an offensive show at the Lynn Cottrell Complex with the War Eagles surviving a 62-50 shootout in Region 8-4A play.
