Mary Elizabeth Bailey, 64

In Loving Memory of Mary Elizabeth Bailey (Affectionately known as Tammy Bailey) June 20, 1961 – September 6, 2025, at 6:14 PM.

Mary Elizabeth Bailey, lovingly known to all as Tammy, was born on June 20, 1961, to Mrs. Ommie Nell Bailey Allen and the late William Thomas Taylor.

From an early age, Tammy’s vibrant spirit shone through. She attended Johnson High School, where she highlightedher athletic talents playing basketball and running track. Following her passion for beauty and creativity, she attended Lanier Technical College to study cosmetology—a field she dearly loved. Tammy was a remarkably handy and resourceful woman who could make or fix about anything. Throughout her life, she held several jobs, but in 2008 she stepped away from work to devote herself to caring for her late brother Ricky Bailey while courageously battling her own health challenges.

Tammy was preceded in death by her father, William Thomas Taylor, and her brothers Ricky Bailey and Gregory Taylor. She leaves to cherish her memory, Her loving son, Quentin Hardesty Butts (Paul Hardesty- Butts); Sisters: Shirley Bailey (Flowery Branch), Annette Bailey (Flowery Branch), Latonya Davis (Lee Davis), (Flowery Branch), Camille Taylor (Covington, GA), and Penny Hollis (Gainesville, GA); Brothers: Stephan Bailey (Lisa Bailey) (Flowery Branch), Kareem Islam (Monticello, NY), and William Taylor (San Antonio, TX); Grandchildren: Mercedes Seifert (Gastonia, NC) and Christian Butts (Linton, IN); Three beloved great-grandchildren: Kingston, Royalty, and Prince; Nephews: Brandon Bailey (Kawanna Bailey), Tobyas Batts, Jareek Millsap, Jaleel Bailey, Ricky Bailey, Zakobe Batts, Rayden Kelly, and Jaxon Batts; Nieces: RSheteka Kelly (Raymond Kelly), Brooklyn Batts, and Raelen Kelly (Sweets); Goddaughters: Taya Williams; Tyeisha Mill (James Mill) and their daughter Teagan Mill; and Quintera Williams; Special cousin: Neicy Porter Kelly; Best friend: Janice Hester and a host of other loving relatives and friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts. Tammy’s kindness, strength, and warm spirit touched everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her legacy of love, resilience, and devotion will live on through the many lives she impacted.

 
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Oakwood, GA. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
