Doris Shumake Phillips, 75

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson, announces the death of Mrs. Doris Shumake Phillips, 75, of Jefferson, Ga. who passed away Tuesday December 13, 2011 in Athens, Georgia.

A native of Crawford, Georgia, Mrs. Phillips was a daughter of the late Gordon and Ollie Mae Aldridge Shumake.

Mrs. Phillips was retired from the Jackson County Board of Education and Commerce City School System where she worked in the Lunchroom. Mrs. Phillips was also employed with Baker and Taylor in Commerce, Georgia. Mrs. Phillips was a member at White Plains Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Thursday Dec. 15, 2011at 2:00 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hillier Duke and Rev. Kevin Page officiating. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Jefferson, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Wednesday Dec. 14, 2011 from 6-9 P.M. Those that will be honored as pallbearers will be, Joseph Nunn, Justin Nunn, Holden Nunn, Bobby Smith, Phillip Crumley and Tracy Phillips.

Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Freddie Ralph Phillips, brothers, Donald Shumake, Marvin Shumake, and Gordon Shumake,Jr.

Survivors include her Children, Tony Nunn, Commerce, Georgia, Elaine (Mike) Strickland, Danielsville, Georgia, Terry (Cindy) Nunn, Jefferson, Georgia, Tim (Amy) Nunn, Commerce, Georgia, Step Children, Tammy Hayes, Jefferson, Georgia Sisters, Marion Kent, Toccoa, Georgia Barbara (Pete) Petering, Jefferson, Georgia and Ruby Mae (Hillier) Duke, Cooksville, Tennesse, 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a number of other relatives.
