Ernest Ray Gunter, 80

Mr. Ernest Ray Gunter, age 80, of Mountain View Road, Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Friday, December 21, 2007 at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 pm Sunday, December 23, 2007 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend Ricky Gunter will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Saturday, December 22, 2007 at the funeral home.

Mr. Gunter was born in Barrow County, Georgia to the late John T. Gunter and Charlotte (Gilliland) Gunter. He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. Mr. Gunter was retired from General Motors in Doraville with 30 years of service. He served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Gunter is survived by his wife of 58 years, Louise (Bradley) Gunter, Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Arthur Carver, Gainesville; Deborah and Danny owen, Gainesville; and Robin and Vince Turek, Athens, GA; daughter, Patsy Gail Gunter Patrick, Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Betty Gunter, Clayton, GA; sons, Phillip Gunter, Gainesville; and Ricky Gunter, also of Gainesville; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, J.T. and Lucille Gunter, Jackson, GA; and a host of other family and friends also survive.
