Leonard J. Parks, 77
Mr. Leonard J. Parks, age 77 of 1155 Parks Drive, Suches died Thursday at Union General Hospital in Blairsville following a sudden illness.
A native and former resident of Lumpkin County, Mr. Parks had lived in Suches for the past 10 years. He was the son of the late Daniel Webster and Fannie Mae Seabolt Parks, and was also preceeded in death by brothers Ervin Parks, James Parks, Fred Parks and 3 infant sisters. Mr. Parks had worked as a ship builder in Brunswick, Georgia during World War II and was a carpenter. Mr. Parks was a member and past Worshipful Master of the Murrayville Masonic Lodge #30 F&AM, an honorary member of Blue Mountain Masonic Lodge #38 F&AM in Dahlonega and was a member of the Zion Baptist Church in Suches.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM Saturday, Nov 29 at Zion Baptist Church in Suches with the remains placed in state at the church at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Dean Bryant, Rev. Guy Lee and Rev. Michael Wilkes officiating. Interment to follow in the Chuurch Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after noon on Friday.
