Cathy Fortner Chauncey, 54

Cathy Fortner Chauncey, 54, of Buford died Friday.

Born in Fulton County, she was a graduate of Gwinnett Technical College. She was employed with the college, where she was an executive assistant to the president. She was the founder of the Georgia branch of the National Association of Executive Secretaries and Administrative Assistants. She was active in the Relay for Life. She was an independent consultant with Creative Memories and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband, Patrick J. Chauncey, Buford; daughter, Katy Collett, Talking Rock; son, Jeremy C. Johnson, Conyers; stepson, William Chauncey, Buford; stepdaughter, Cory Chauncey, Buford; parents, Warren and Mildred Fortner, Seymour, Tenn.; sister, Sharon Fore, Seymour, Tenn.; one grandson; and two stepgrandchildren.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Graveside services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005, at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens. Dr. Robert Powers will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
