Robert Thomas "Tommy" Jarrard, 63

Robert Thomas "Tommy" Jarrard, 63, of Gainesville went home to be with our Lord Saturday, March 17 after an extended illness. Tom was born on July 30, 1943 in Newnan, Ga., son of the late Bornell Charles Jarrard and Virginia Trammell Jarrard. A graduate of Gainesville High School, he attended North Georgia College where he was the Cadet Corps' Brigade Commander. He earned his degree and his commission as Second Lieutenant in the United States Army in 1965. After serving as a company commander in Vietnam, he was honorably discharged from the military in 1969. He attended the University of Georgia Law School which he completed in 1972. Tom moved his family to Gainesville the following year and practiced law there for the remainder of his life.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Joe and Rosser Johnson, his brother, John Jarrard, his daughter-in-law, Jill Jarrard, and his nephew, Rob Dodson. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Nancy Johnson Jarrard; his children and grandchildren: Lt. Col. and Mrs. Joe
Jarrard, Ben, Will, and Joseph; Lt. Col. and Mrs. Jamie Jarrard, Sydney, Mckenna, Jack, and Anne; Maj. and Mrs. Kevin Jarrard, Caleb, Hannah, Rachel, and Ethan; Mr. and Mrs. Jason Coffee, Patrick, Rebecca Kate, and Megan; his sister-in-law, Janet Jarrard and niece, Amanda Jarrard of Nashville; wife's sisters and brothers-in-law: Shirley and Bob Dodson of Cedartown, Peggy and George Thompson of Dahlonega, JoAn Cox of Acworth; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Mr. Kevin Morgan, whom Tom loved as a son, his wife Denise and daughter Jessica, of Cleveland.

Visitation will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 21 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Gainesville the following day at 11 a.m. Dr. Bill Coates, Dr. Bruce Morgan, and Rev. Mike Taylor will officiate.
