William F. "Bill" Wharton, 60

Lumpkin

Mr. William F. "Bill" Wharton, age 60, of Dahlonega, Ga. died Tuesday May 15, 2007 at the Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega, Ga.

Mr. Wharton was a native and former resident of West Palm Beach, Florida who had lived in Lumpkin County for more than 20 years. He was a retired elevator installer with Otis Elevator Co., was a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local #32, member of St. Lukes Catholic Church in Dahlonega, and served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War.

He was the son of the late Ralph and Grace Radcliffe Wharton and was also preceded in death by a Brother, Nathan Wharton, and Stepfather, Robert Kelly.

Mr. Wharton is survived by his Wife, Laura Wharton, Dahlonega, Ga., Daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Rick Smith, Dahlonega, Ga., Jamie and Tony Owens, Dahlonega, Ga., Brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Patricia Wharton, Rolesville, NC, Sister-in-law, Carrie Foreman, Rosman, NC, Grandchildren, Corbyn Smith and Landen Smith, Nieces and Nephews, Jennifer Meyer, Ian, Evan, and Alli Wharton.

A number of other relatives also survive.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 4 P.M. Friday May 18, 2007 at the St. Lukes Catholic Church in Dahlonega with Father Robert Frederick officiating.

Interment will follow at Dahlonega Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Veterans Alliance Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 7 P.M. until 9 P.M.
