Mr. John Robert Spencer, age 84 of Kay Road, Eastanollee passed away Sunday, January 5, 2020 at St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital in Lavonia, GA after a brief battle with cancer.
A son of the late Coke and Mary Lathan Spencer, he was born September 28, 1935 in Elberton, Georgia having lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was a truck driver for 40 years. He was a member of the Martin Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Frances Means Spencer, a son John Terry Spencer, and his second wife Betty Spencer.
Survivors include a son Robert Steven Spencer of Panama City, Florida; two grandchildren, Nicole McAdam and Danielle Spencer; sisters, Muriel Robinson, Stella Mooney and Ruth Spencer; brothers, Hoke Spencer and Jimmy Spencer; a special niece, Nan Means Payne and a number of other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 8, 2020, 2 O’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Mark Thomas officiating.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Bobby Honea, Jimmy LeCroy, Virgil Earls, Tommy Earls, Alan Yearwood, Bruce Haddock and Gary Matthews.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday from noon until the service time.
Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. John Robert Spencer.
