Funeral services for William A. Trotman, Jr. (W.A.) 87, of Clarkesville, GA will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 4:00 p.m., at Clarkesville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Phil DeMore, Rev. Jan Devereaux, and Rev. Keith Cox officiating.
Mr. Trotman went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 4, 2019.
W.A. was preceded in death by his father, Rev. William A. Trotman, Sr., mother, Christabel Foster Trotman, stepmother,Hazel Trotman, two sisters, Mary Jo Gomillion, and Dorothy Arceneaux; two brothers, Ron Trotman and Sam Trotman.
W.A. was born August 19, 1932, in the Hill Switch Community just outside of Clarkesville, GA. He was a graduate of IstroumaHigh School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and earned degrees from Louisiana College and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
W.A. was a member of Clarkesville United Methodist Church. He worked faithfully with the United Methodist Men, the Mission Team, Jetsetters, and served as a Sunday School Teacher in the Good News class. He was a retired Baptist minister pastoring the following churches: Mullins Ford Baptist Church and Tugalo Baptist Church in Stephens County, Indian Creek Baptist Church in Franklin County, Head of Tennessee Baptist Church in Dillard GA, Flat Creek Baptist Church in Hall County. He completed his ministry as a Chaplain at Lee Arrendale State Prison in Alto GA.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ella Sue Gordon Trotman; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronny and Donna Trotman, Scott and Sthar Trotman, Lee and Deborah Trotman; stepdaughter, Laverne Hopkins, stepdaughter and son-in-law, Donna and Mike Bramblett. In addition, W.A. is survived by brother, Doug Trotman, sister and brother-n-law, Sue and Paul Fitzgerald; and sister-in-law Dot Trotman. Surviving grandchildren are Josh Trotman, Trista Trotman Crumley,Stockton Trotman, Justin Trotman, Jeremy Trotman, Seth Trotman, Eric Trotman, Adam Trotman, Kelli Brown, MikelBramblett, and Amanda Watts; as well as 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Clarkesville United Methodist Church missions fund.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Hillside Memorial Chapel.
