Dr. John B. Lyon, age 91, of Flowery Branch passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at his residence with his wife.
Private Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
Dr. Lyon was born March 17, 1925 to the late J. Blakeslee & Margaretta Owen Lyon in Auburn, New York. He served in the Navy during WWII and was a retired Professor of Biochemistry from Emory University Medical School in 1993. Dr. Lyon graduated from Hamilton College in New York then went on to Brown University, where he received his Masters Degree and then Phd in Biochemistry in 1954. He came to Emory University in 1954 on a Post-Doctorial Fellowship, then upon completion, joined the faculty of Emory University. He was a member of the Lake Lanier Sailing Club, Psi Upsilon Fraternity and was of the Unitarian Faith
Dr. Lyon is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth A. Lyon of Flowery Branch; grandson, Joseph Lyon Ginsburg; brother, Dr. David O. Lyon of Kalamazoo, Michigan; sisters, Jeanene Tylee of Madison Heights, Virginia and Margarette Lyon Fulton of Waltham, Massachusetts; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Dr. Paul Douglas Lyon and daughter, Deborah Elizabeth Lyon Warren.
