Hershell Jewell Samples

Mr. Hershell Jewell Samples, age 69, of Gainesville, passed away on September 18, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, Septemebr 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Chaplain Bonnie Conklin will officiate.The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Samples was born February 8, 1945 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Hubert Loyd Samples and Ruby Martin Samples. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from General Motors with 36 years of service. Hershell was of the Baptist Faith and was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Richard Samples and his sister, Rosa Lee Stevens.

Mr. Samples is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sharon Samples of Gainesville, his daughter & son-in-law, Tammy & George Lewis of Chaplain Hills, Tennessee and son and daughter-in-law, Justin & Breanna Samples of Gainesville, daughter and son-in-law, C. J. & Todd Randolph of Gillsville, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, brother & sister-in-law, H. C. & Trish Samples of Gainesville, sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Terry & Curtis Bagwell of Gainesville, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Loyd and Jeanette Stephens of Gillsville and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Northeast Georgia Hospice and Longsteet Cancer Center for all their love and care for Hershell.
