Donald Reid Houston, Sr.

Mr. Donald Reid Houston, Sr., age 78 of Gainesville, GA, formerly of Crossville, TN and Anniston, AL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Dogwood Forest Assisted Living.

A celebration of life service is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 17, 2011 in the Chapel at First Baptist Church of Gainesville. Dr. Bill Coates and Rev. Bruce Fields will officiate.

Mr. Houston was born April 15, 1933 in Dearmanville, AL and was the son of the late Jesse Reid Houston and Addie Mae (Dunston) Houston. Mr. Houston lived in the Crossville, TN area for 13 years prior to moving to Gainesville, GA in 2010. He attended First Baptist Church of Gainesville. He was a member of and retired from the North Alabama Presbytery. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.

Mr. Houston is survived by his loving wife, Peggy (Huff) Houston of Gainesville, GA; three children, Donna Houston of Anniston, AL, Rhonda (Mrs. John) Thompson of Gainesville, and Donald (Doc) Houston, Jr. of Huntsville, AL; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Houston.
