Milon Stone Christman, Jr. passed away on October 31, 2011. He was 91 years old.
Milon was born in Spartanburg, SC August 29, 1920. He attended Darlington School in Rome, GA., and earned a BS from Clemson University.
He attended OCS in Fort Knox, KY. and served in WWII in the 7TH Army Division, 17th Tank Battalion, discharged in 1946 when he joined Milliken and Company, Pacolet Mill in New Holland, Gainesville, GA. He worked for Milliken in New York, Atlanta and La Grange, GA where he retired in 1985 and returned to Gainesville.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Society of Colonial Wars, First Families of South Carolina, the Huguenot Society of Charleston, and the Descendents of the Kings and Queens of England.
He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean (B.J.) Adams Christman, daughter Dorothy Christman Moore and son-in-law Jim Moore of Orlando, FL; daughter Virginia (Gina) Christman of Atlanta; one son, Milon Stone Christman III of Gainesville; two grandsons, Bennett Seaman Adams of Atlanta and Nicholas Christman of Myrtle Beach, SC; and one great-grandson Asa Gray Adams of Atlanta.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 422 Brenau Avenue, Gainesville, GA, 30501.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 5th, 11:00 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville. Visitation with the family will be held in the Parish Hall immediately following the service.
