William Duncan Bailey

William Duncan Bailey, 77, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, with his family by his side. Born on March 5, 1947, in Gainesville, Duncan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose life was a testament to faith, generosity, and strength.

Duncan was the cherished son of Edward and Hilda Bailey, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Chris Bailey, and their children: Sarah Oakley and her husband Eric; Edward Bailey and his wife Jennifer; and Esther Whitt and her husband Dustin. He was a proud grandfather to Seth, Hannah, Abigail, Esther Rae, and Caleb Oakley, Falyn and Farrah Bailey, and Anderson, Grason, Charleston Whitt. Duncan is also survived by his sister, Jayne Bradley, his sister-in-law Georgia Smith, and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

Duncan was known for his unwavering faith, remarkable strength, and dependable nature. A proud father and amazing provider, he deeply loved his wife and family. His generosity and sense of humor were well-known, and he was considered a father figure to many. Duncan enjoyed the great outdoors, finding joy in hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking. He was also
an avid Georgia Tech fan, whose enthusiasm for his team was matched only by his zest for life.

A memorial service to honor Duncan’s life will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at 12Stone Church in Flowery Branch, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Jericho House, 3621 Highway 255 N, Sautee, GA 30571, reflecting Duncan’s commitment to helping others.
