Mrs. Elizabeth Freeland Forrester, 82, of Gainesville, peacefully passed away Friday, April 5, 2024, after battling dementia for several years.
A native of Lumpkin County, she spent most of her life in Hall County. A member of Cool Springs Baptist Church, she served as Sunday School teacher, played the organ, sang in the choir, and was a deacon’s wife for 28 years. Mrs. Forrester briefly attended Tennessee Temple University, majoring in English. She worked at Sardis Elementary as a kindergarten paraprofessional for over twenty years. Prior to working at Sardis Elementary, she was the secretary for the president of North Georgia College for a brief period. For over fifteen years, she was an administrative assistant at Gaybourn Mill and Gotham Hosiery Company.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Sandy Loren Forrester; a daughter, Lori Beth, who died at birth; parents, Rev. Dorsey and Alla Lee Freeland, Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lee and Ben Sanders, Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Miriam and Kenneth Adams, Murrayville; and brother, Benny Freeland, Murrayville.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lorissa and Chad Crumley, Gainesville, granddaughter, Macy Crumley, Gainesville; sister-in-law, Melinda McCumber, Murrayville; and brother-in-law, Benny Armour, Murrayville. Survivors also include the families of Harry and Wanda Allison, Clermont and Ralph and Nadine Crumley, Gainesville. Additionally, Elizabeth is survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
The family of Mrs. Forrester would like to express our greatest appreciation to the many nurses and caregivers over the years. All of the caregivers at the Resting Nest will forever be part of the family.
Visitation will be held at Little & Davenport Funeral Home from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024. Following visitation, the funeral will be at 3 p.m. in the chapel at Little & Davenport Funeral Home, with Rev. Darin Cain and Rev. Ricky Stone officiating. Interment will be at Cool Springs Baptist Church cemetery.
