Charles Loren Whelchel, 83 of Gainesville died Sunday February 11, 2024, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center-Gainesville. Charles was born June 21, 1940, in Dawsonville, Ga., to the late Lee A. and Martha L. Nora Clark Whelchel.
Charles was an Army Veteran and was a retired poultry inspector with the USDA. He was a member and Deacon of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Gainesville.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Brenda Nell Chapman Whelchel, granddaughters, Nikki Brooke Page and Paislee Loren Page, son-in-law, Brian Keith Page and many siblings.
He is survived by his son, Charles Daniel Whelchel of Gainesville and daughter, Lisa Whelchel Page of Gainesville, grandchildren, Caleb and Elisha Kinsey of Gillsville, Zack and Brisa Noles of Clarksville, Jordy Page and girlfriend Sierra Stone of Gainesville, and great-granddaughter, Harper Kinsey.
The family will receive friends Thursday February 15, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at Little & Davenport Funeral Home, Funeral Services will be held Friday February 16, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Rev. Steve Baker officiating, interment will follow in the church cemetery.
