Bobby Ray Benefield

Bobby Ray Benefield, 83 of Gainesville passed away Wednesday February 22, 2023, at his residence.

Bobby was the son of the late O.R. and Grace Benefield of Chestnut Mountain and was also preceded in death by his brother Harold M. Benefield.

He graduated from Gainesville High School, Class of 1957, where he was an outstanding basketball player. Bobby attended the University of Georgia and participated in ROTC, later serving in the United States Army Reserve and Georgia National Guard. He co-owned and operated B & B Egg Company, Inc. and Benefield Farms. His greatest accomplishment was serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Bobby is survived by his wife and love of 30 years, Mary Allison Benefield, his son, who he was so proud of, Jeffery Alan Benefield and daughter-in-law, Tamara James Benefield, his grandchildren, Alli Benefield Curry (Stephen), Ansley Benefield Wilson (Josh), A.J. Benefield (Carly), and Adam Ray Benefield, great grandchildren, Banks Curry, Harper Wilson, Beau Wilson, Lance Wilson, Maddy Wilson, Kingsley Wilson, Sawyer Wilson, S.J. Benefield and Riggins Ray Benefield, sister-in-law, Jeanette Benefield, niece, Becky Vinson, great niece and great nephew, Katelyn and Peyton Vinson, and special friends Walter Byrd and Joe Braselton.

The family wants to extend special thanks to his caregiver Allyson Hopper.

Funeral services will be Sunday February 26, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Pastor Jeff Benefield and Pastor Tim Strickland will officiate. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park South Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday February 25 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Hospice.
