Emma “Mama Meeks” Shellnut Meeks

Emma “Mama Meeks” Shellnut Meeks, age 97, of Lawrenceville, GA, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Rev. Raiford Meeks, Sr. and daughter, Rowena Merrill Braswell.  She is survived by her children, Bertie M. Loving (Curtis) of Commerce, GA, Leonard Raiford Meeks, Jr. of Lawrenceville, GA and Gerald E. Meeks (Frances) of Buford, GA; numerous grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Evelyn Meeks of Pendergrass, GA; brothers-in-law, John Meeks (Faye) of Ochlocknee, GA, Ruddock Meeks (Betty) of Dallas, GA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Mrs. Meeks was born on May 29, 1924, in LaGrange, GA.  She was a homemaker and member of the Lawrenceville Church of God.  She loved sewing, flowers and spending time with her family.  A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford, GA, with Rev. Lamar Hansard officiating.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Flanigan Funeral Home.
