Roland T. Scales

Roland T. Scales, age 84, of Flowery Branch, GA, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Billy and Martha Bowen Scales and by nine bothers and sisters.  Mr. Scales is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan Bailey Scales of Flowery Branch, GA; children, Johnny Scales of Decatur, GA, Laurie Scales of Lula, GA, Lisa Scales Robbins of Buford, GA, Donny Scales (Marisol) of Winder, GA; grandchildren, Joshua Robbins, Sarah Fic, Truett Scales (Kristen), Mario, Isabella, Alex and Louis Scales; great-grandson, Wyatt Scales; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Mr. Scales was born on April 20, 1937 in Lula, GA.  He attended Campbell of Fairburn and graduated from Young Harris High School.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Ford Motor Company after 36 years of service.  Mr. Scales was a member of the Republican Party.  He won gold medals in the Senior Olympics.  He was a member of Buford Church of Christ and was a member of the Owls Group for those over 80 years of age.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Buford Church of Christ with military honors.  Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Flanigan Funeral Home and on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 a.m. at the Church.
