William Jackson “Bill” Clark

William Jackson “Bill” Clark, age 77 of Mt. Airy, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021. 

Born in Mount Airy, Georgia on February 17, 1944, he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson Clark and Olivia Garrett Clark. Mr. Clark was a retired aircraft mechanic having served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for 22 years. During his military career, he was based both stateside and internationally including Warner Robbins, Guam, North Dakota and South Dakota, Michigan, North Carolina and Okinawa. He was passionate about military aviation, particularly the B52 bomber.  After retirement, he worked with Davis Lumber Company, Habersham Hardware and the Habersham County School System.  He attended Alto Congregational Holiness Church.  In his spare time, Mr. Clark enjoyed fishing, gardening and anything mechanical.  He was an avid baker and was renowned for his apple pies.  He is described by his family as an awesome husband, dad, grandad and great grandad who especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Ethel Sanders and Sybil Chumney. 

Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Crocker Clark of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Lisa Clark of Pensacola, Florida; daughters and son-in-law, Tammy Drawdy of Baldwin, Reshell & Chris Chasteen of Comer; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bobbie Standridge of Cleveland, Yvonne Tatum of Dallas, Ann Harmon of LaGrange and Joy Anderson of Eastanollee; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 pm, Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Danny Oliver and Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery with full military honors provided by the United States Air Force. 

The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
