Maj. Alden Lathan Roberson, Jr

Obituary Date: Thursday, February 4, 2021

Maj. Alden Lathan Roberson, Jr., USA, Ret. age 82, of Martinez, went to be with Nita in heaven on Thursday, February 4, 2021.

Alden was born in South Turkey Creek, North Carolina to the late Alden Lathan Roberson, Sr. and Lillie Allene Hampton Roberson.

He served as an officer in the United States Army with the Signal Corps which included two tours of duty in Vietnam and multiple moves and assignments. His numerous commendations included the Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), and a Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm.

Alden loved adventure and traveling and trying new things. He had a passion for treasuring moments and loved all time keepers. He had a collection of clocks and watches that he cherished. He also had a passion for the open road and loved motorcycles and cars. But above all, he loved his family, and the matriarch, Nita, was his Queen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his partner and life- his wife of 57 years, Juanita Evans Roberson; and his brothers, Larry Roberson and Jerry Roberson.

He is survived by his two children, Daniel Alden Roberson (Tina) of Summerville, South Carolina and Renée Cain (Billy) of Dahlonega, Georgia; two brothers, Gayle Roberson (Willie) and Joe Roberson, both of Washington, Georgia; five grandchildren, Amanda Cain Parker (Stan), William Terrell Cain III (Haley), Nicholas Brandon Cain, Ashley Melissa Roberson, and Jacob Daniel Roberson; and two great grandchildren, Hazel Renée Parker and Logan Espn Cain.

A graveside service will take place at 1:00 P.M. Monday, February 8, 2021 at Westover Memorial Park in Augusta. Alden loved all the richness and color of life, and so in keeping, we ask that you wear bright life affirming colors!
