Carl Yarbrough Jr. 87 of Gainesville passed away Wednesday June 24th.
Mr. Carl Yarbrough Jr was born on February 11, 1933 in Jackson County to the late Mr. & Mrs. Carl Yarbrough Sr. He departed this life on June 24th 2020 at the nursing facility.
Mr Yarbrough entered into the United States Army. He also fought in the Korean War. He was also a captain while fighting in the Korean War he gained a Purple Heart. He faced a serious health issue. But he was determine to keep fighting. He received the Korean service medal with three bronze stars, as well as the United Nations Service medal.
He is preceded in death by his wife Corine Barnett Yarbrough and son Quentin Yarbrough; brothers, Talmadge, Tanner( Nezzie House), Elmo, Virgil, Woodrow; sisters, Mozzell( Donald) Griffen, Irene (John) Baynes, Ruth Lott, Ruby Randolph, Mary Sue (Charles W.) Westbrook, Annette Yarbrough and son-in-law William Merritt.
He is survived by children Peggy S. Y. Merritt Pendergrass, Ga Carl Yarbrough, Houston Tx., Alesia( Michael) Dean, Cherly J. ( Douglas) Cobb, Stewart ( Tesha) Yarbrough, Greg Yarbrough, Ronald Yarbrough all of Gainesville, Ga and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Carl Jr. was the last survivor of the Late Adell and Carl Yarbrough Union.
The visitation for Mr. Yarbrough will be Thursday July 2 at Wimberly Funeral Home from 12-7. Mr. Yarbrough's service will be Friday July 3rd at Cross Plain Baptist Church at 11:00. Professional Funeral Service Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
