Willie Lloyd "Smitty" Smith, 63
Willie Lloyd "Smitty" Smith, age 63, of 378 Stoneridge Dr., Dahlonega, Georgia, died Monday, June 26, 2006, at the Northside Hospital Forsyth, in Cumming, Georgia after his battle with cancer.
Born September 14,1942 in Silverena , Mississippi and formerly of Powder Springs, Georgia, he had lived in Lumpkin County for the past 11 years. Mr. Smith had retired from General Motors after 36 years of service, was a member of UAW t! 10 and attended Christ Fellowship Church in Dawsonville, Georgia. He was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his Father, Lloyd Smith and a Son, John Anthony "Tony" Smith.
Survivors include – HIS WIFE – Sherri Smith, of Dahlonega, Ga.; CHILDREN – Brittany L. Smith, Hannah M. Smith and Matthew P. Smith, all of Dahlonega, Ga.; Leigh Ann Smith and Alfonso Vela, of Mableton, Ga.; Karon E. Anderson and William Lloyd Smith, both of Powder Springs, Ga.; GRANDCHILDREN – Robert Smith, Taylor Vela, Michael James Delong, George Vela and Laila Hopson; MOTHER-IN-LAW & STEP-FATHER-IN-LAW – Jean and Nicky Moss, of Dahlonega, Ga.; FATHER-IN-LAW & STEP-MOTHER-IN-LAW -J.R. and Helen Roberts, of Sevierville, Tn.; SISTERS-IN-LAW & BROTHERS-IN-LAW – Kim and Jason Abercrombie, Dana and David Valentine, Jamie and Jennifer Moss, all of Dahlonega, Ga.; Dana and Mike Turner, of Dawsonville , Ga.; UNCLES – Leo Norwood, of Hattiesburg, Ms; and Morris Norwood, of Laurel, Ms. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 29, 2006, at the Christ Fellowship Church in Dawsonville, Georgia, with the remains placed in state at the Church at 10:30 a.m., the Rev. Ricky Stepp will officiate, with the interment to follow in Dahlonega Memorial Park
The Family will receive Friends at the Funeral Home, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
