Week 2 provided us with so many excellent contests that we couldn't stop refreshing our social media feeds fast enough to keep up.
Jefferson won a defensive battle at Memorial Stadium, knocking off Jackson County, 10-3. East Jackson won a slugfest as well at Commerce, 21-14. Flowery Branch hung on to knock off Habersham Central in Mount Airy, 31-28.
East Forsyth kicked a game-winning field goal at home against Dawson County, 19-16. Riverside won its first game since 2021 by knocking off Cross Keys, 36-6, while North Hall and Cherokee Bluff each had blowout wins to set up their rivalry matchup next week at The Brickyard.
Gainesville put on an impressive display on Thursday, routing Moody (Ala.) 49-7 at City Park Stadium. The Blue Devils are considered the early front-runners to win the Class 5A state title in Alabama.
