After the 2024 killing in Gainesville of Gwinnett County teen Jaishawn Overstreet, the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is now looking for a third suspect who they say is connected to the case.
The new suspect is 18-year-old Kyland Rochod Williams who is wanted for felony murder, malice murder, and aggravated assault.
“We’re coming up on a year anniversary of that shooting death so we’re hoping that the public can assist us in locating Williams,” GPD’s Kevin Holbrook said.
Holbrook did say that 19-year-old Ja’Quez Jeremiah Sims of Gainesville is still connected to the case.
Sims was arrested on charges of felony malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault in May of last year.
In June of last year, Sims and 18-year-old Quaran Jamir Jackson of Gillsville were charged with multiple counts of participation in criminal street gang activity in connection to the murder.
“Williams has been running from law enforcement since the case last year,” Holbrook said.
Holbrook also said that they are getting assistance from the US Marshals.
“It’s my understanding that his last known place of residence was the Gwinnett or metro area,” Holbrook said. “We believe that he did possibly flee the state for a short time.”
Holbrook said they believe he may be back and traveling through the area.
