Georgia Department of Public Health officials say they have identified a possible fentanyl cluster in Gainesville.

The cluster was reportedly identified after an incident in which four people overdosed at a motel on the city's east side earlier this month. All four are still hospitalized as of last report.

Officials said street drugs surfacing in the North Georgia area have been found to often be laced with fentanyl, which they said can be dangerous and potentially lethal. They also advise that someone often cannot detect if a drug has been laced with fentanyl by looking, smelling or touching it.

Officials said Naloxone can be used to counter-act the effects of an overdose. You can find more information on Naloxone on the DPH website.
