The quarterfinal round of the GHSA playoffs was a rough one for northeast Georgia area teams on Friday.
Six teams spanning five classifications entered the Elite 8 round, just Jefferson came out on the other end and earned a trip to the state semifinals.
The Dragons blew out Harris County on the road, 35-12 in Class 5A. The Dragons will hit the road once more next week traveling to Creekside in southwest Atlanta.
Gainesville was shocked by Woodward Academy, 20-17, in Class 6A while Buford saw their season come to a screeching halt in a slugfest at Grayson, 19-14, in Class 7A.
Lumpkin County saw their historic season come to an end against Savannah Christian in a 42-21 loss in Class 3A.
Commerce lost a heartbreaker to Bryan County, 24-16, while Rabun County had its season conclude with a 39-13 loss at Brooks County, both of those games coming in Class A Division 1.
