Five people were recently arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a New Year's Eve party in Gainesville.
According to a press release from the Hall County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened at about 3 a.m. on Dec. 31, 2022, when four people were robbed at gunpoint at a home in the 100 block of McConnell Drive. Steven Arellano, 17, was attending the party and reportedly alerted the other four suspects to come to the residence to rob the victims.
The four suspects Arellano contacted reportedly arrived at the scene in an SUV and pointed guns at the victims, demanding they remove valuables from their pockets. Excluding Arellano, four people were at the party and all four were victims in the incident.
Two of the suspects punched a male victim as he tried to resist. The victim suffered minor injuries, including a bloody lip.
The four suspects fired several shots into the air and left the scene after the robbery. Arellano left the scene in his own vehicle.
The five suspects got away with cash, jewelry, a set of car keys and iPhones. Hall County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer B.J. Williams said the totally value of the stolen items was under $5000.
All five suspects were arrested and each was charged with four counts of armed robbery. Their names and charges are as follows:
- Steven Emmanuel Arellano, 17, of Gainesville. He was arrested on Jan. 6.
- Daniel Tamayo, 17, of Gainesville. He was arrested on Jan. 9.
- Marquavious Tavares Moses, 19, of Flowery Branch. He was arrested on Jan. 13.
- Angel Misael Tamayo, 18, of Gainesville. He was arrested on Jan. 13.
- Katia Salinas, 20, of Gillsville. She was arrested on Jan. 18.
Daniel Tamayo and Angel Tamayo are brothers.
Daniel Tamayo, Moses and Salinas were also charged by the Gainesville Police Department in connection with an armed robbery on Lee Waldrip Drive on Dec. 16, 2022. They join Jimmy Anthony Trejo-Ramirez, 19, who was previously arrested in connection with that incident.
It happened at about 2 a.m. after the victim was lured to a remote location, robbed at gunpoint and struck multiple times. Gainesville Police Lt. Kevin Holbrook said the Lee Waldrip Drive investigation remains open and active.
