Morgan House has announced he is no longer seeking a seat on the Gainesville City Council.

In an email statement, House said "unforeseen circumstances surrounding my work responsibilities as well as my growing family" impacted his decision to stop his campaign for the Ward 1 post on the council.

House announced he would run for the post on May 17.

"I truly appreciate everyone who has supported me throughout my short run," House said in the statement. "Although I will not seek election, I do plan to stay involved with our community and I will support the candidates who I believe represent the values that will best serve our citizens for now and into the future."

Gainesville Mayor Danny Dunagan, who will not run for re-election as mayor, is currenlty the only declared candidate for Ward 1.
