The Georgia State Patrol has released the names of those involved in a fatal three-vehicle accident that happened earlier in the week on I-85 in Jackson County.
The driver who was killed was identified as Olivia Ann Bullard, 72, of Commerce.
According to the investigation, a flatbed Freightliner truck carrying granite slabs was traveling southbound on the interstate Wednesday around 11 a.m. and approached an area around mile marker 141 where traffic had stopped because of construction delays.
The driver of the Freightliner, identified as Justin Gray, 33, of Dewy Rose, was unable to stop before striking Bullard's Toyota Camry from behind. Both the Freightliner and the Camry were pushed into the back of a tanker truck that was carrying industrial acid. There was no spill as a result of the crash.
Bullard died at the scene, according to the investigation.
Gray sustained injuries that required hospitalization, but the injuries were described as non-life threatening. The driver of the tanker complained of a minor injury; he refused transport to the hospital.
Troopers are consulting with the Jackson County Solicitor’s Office to determine what charges might be filed against Gray.
