Hall County Commissioners are set to vote Thursday on a rezoning that would allow for a subdivision, an events license and a special use that would make way for a new cell tower.

The subdivision, if approved, would sit on over 71 acres on Barrett Road near Dorsey Peek Road in the East Hall area. The Hall County Planning Commission recommended approval of the development in a split vote in April. Several residents spoke against the rezoning at that planning commission meeting.

In the Buford area, a motorcycle dealership is seeking final approval for a special business events license that would allow for up to 12 outdoor events at the store over the next year.

Frazier Cycle Sales, Inc. is located on Friendship Road between I-985 and North Bogan Road. Bill Frazier spoke for the business at the first reading for the license on April 24, saying that the business is planning to host a chili cook-off, a cruise-in car show and a customer appreciation day with attendance for those events expected to range from 100 to 400 people.

Commissioners unanimously approved the license's first reading with no one speaking against the request in the public hearing.

Also on Thursday's commission agenda will be a special use request from Eco-Site to build a cell tower on Delta Drive south of Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville. The tower would reportedly service T-Mobile customers.

District Two Commissioner Billy Powell asked at Monday's commission work session if there was sufficient tower coverage in the surrounding area. County planning staff members said more information could be provided by Thursday's voting session.

The Hall County Commission will meet for that voting session Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the county government center on Browns Bridge Road.
