A former Hall County high school teacher turned himself into authorities Tuesday for allegedly having inappropriate electronic communications with a 16-year-old student.

Hall County Sheriff's Office officials said Wednesday that a warrant was issued for 26-year-old Taylor Guthrie of Murrayville Monday. They said he turned himself to the Hall County Jail Tuesday afternoon and later posted bond.

Guthrie resigned from his position with Chestatee High School in March amid an investigation into the alleged communication. Hall County School Board officials said they cooperated with the county sheriff's office in the investigation, which is still ongoing.

The investigation began on March 13. The sheriff's office says the warrant was for electronically furnishing obscene material to a minor
