BRASELTON, Ga. (AP) A Mayfield Dairy plant in North Georgia is set to close and lay off its more than 100 employees.
Mayfield Dairy announced the layoffs and closure to Braselton Mayor Bill Orr in a July letter. The letter did not say why the plant is closing.
It said layoffs will start Sept. 16 and continue through Nov. 30. The letter says the company, owned by Dean Foods, provided the closure and termination notice so the town can assist workers with finding new employment.
The plant's visitor center closes Friday, August 31.
Plant officials referred requests for comment to Dean Foods, which couldn't be reached.
