FLOWERY BRANCH -- The city of Flowery Branch has become the final piece of the puzzle to sign off on an intergovernmental agreement with the city of Oakwood and Hall County for mowing along Thurmond Tanner Road.
The Flowery Branch City Council voted unanimously agreed at their meeting Thursday night to approve their end of the agreement. The agreement, which had recently been approved by both Oakwood and Hall County, will see the two cities and the county mow more specifically designated stretches of the road, which passes through all three jurisdictions, in an effort to make sure the area is well-kept.
Flowery Branch City Manager Bill Andrew said the agreement should make mowing the road more efficient.
"We can mow little bits that are in Hall County, they can mow a little bit that's in Flowery Branch. So we can better utilize our equipment," Andrew said.
The agreement will have Flowery Branch mow the section of the road from the railroad crossing near Mud Creek to where the road ends at Phil Niekro Boulevard. Oakwood will mow the road between H.F. Reed Industrial Parkway and Mundy Mill Road and Hall County will be tasked with filling in the gaps.
Andrew said the agreement is effective immediately, now that all three governments have given it their approval.
